Drug addiction is a major social and public health issue that requires effective preventive strategies. This study aims to examine the role and performance of Basij in addiction prevention and its mission implementation. Using a qualitative research approach based on library studies, the findings indicate that Basij can play a crucial role in reducing drug use tendencies through the formulation of supportive policies, the implementation of educational and awareness programs, and community mobilization at the neighborhood and city levels. One of the main challenges in carrying out this mission is the presence of legal gaps and operational barriers in Basij’s collaboration with relevant institutions, which necessitates policy reforms. By analyzing successful global models such as the Icelandic model and the "Communities That Care" program, a proposed operational framework for Basij includes establishing educational centers in high-risk areas, organizing life skills training programs, collaborating with healthcare and welfare centers, and enhancing social capital. Additionally, national initiatives implemented in Iran, such as the Yarigaran-e Zendegi (Life Helpers Plan) and the Karamat Plan, were reviewed as successful case studies. These measures can contribute to reducing addiction rates and improving social well-being.
